From the Pastor

January 2018

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Okay, I’m going to admit something. I went back and re-read the article I wrote for January 2018. Let me review a little bit first. In 2014 we began to dream about the possibility of a new worship space and Sunday school/office addition to our existing church building. We started raising funds in 2015 and moved forward with building plans in 2016. Then we started building in 2017 in hopes that everything would be completed in 2018. Well, like most major building projects, there are always delays and things you can’t predict. But I feel confident in saying, sometime in 2019 we will be in our new space.

We’ve seen a lot of great and wonderful things happen in the life of our church in 2018. We’ve had 23 people join our church family. On the flip side, we’ve had several people move on to their heavenly home this year as well. There have been a lot of challenges and good things happen in this year.

Personally, I am looking forward to 2019 to see what wonderful things God has in store for us next. One thing I know for sure, God has a wonderful plan for our future, a plan with lots of hope.

God is going to continue to do great things in our midst in 2019. One thing we can all be doing as we anticipate moving into our new building is to tell someone what God is doing in the life of our church and our lives.

I want to ask you to do one thing for me in this coming year, pray and ask God to help us fill up this new building for Jesus. Hope is alive and well at Hardinsburg UMC as we welcome in this New Year.
